NeighborSpace is excited to announce the newest development in the Portals for our Partners (POP) project: the brand new website for the Northeast Towson Improvement Association!
Portals for our Partners began two years ago, in May 2020, as a way to foster community engagement and cohesion around NeighborSpace park sites. In October 2021, with grant funding from the Quality of Life Giving Circle, a website was developed for the Powhatan Farms Improvement Association (PFIA), the NeighborSpace stewardship partner at Powhatan Park in Lochearn.
Now, with funding from the United Way of Central Maryland, NeighborSpace has been able to assist the Northeast Towson Improvement Association (NeTIA), the stewardship partner for Adelaide Bentley Park in historic East Towson, with developing their own community portal! As Nancy Goldring, the President of NeTIA, states, “This website has streamlined communications with residents and given friends of the community a visually engaging place to go for information and updates on what’s happening in Historic East Towson. It took a while to get here, but it was well worth the wait, the learning curve and the effort! Thank you, NeighborSpace!”
On this site, beautifully designed by Gregory (aka Omari) Butler of DIPS Technology, you can find information on the history of the area, volunteer opportunities, and links for community events. With less than a month until Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, make sure to visit the site and get your tickets for The Road to Freedom, the largest Juneteenth celebration in the region!
