Dear Friend:
After nearly 13 years at the helm of NeighborSpace, our Executive Director, Barbara Hopkins, is leaving to lead a national organization effective August 16, 2022. We want to thank Barbara for her many years of devoted service far beyond anything that the organization could have expected and wish her the best of luck in her new position. Her leadership has moved the operations of our urban land trust to the adoption of policies, organizational structures, and stewardship practices that represent best industry standards. In her outreach, she has established relationships, programs and processes for community leaders to engage, energize and strengthen their work, thereby developing NeighborSpace as an important partner in grassroots community engagement inside the Urban Rural Demarcation Line (URDL).
We are extremely grateful to Barbara for all we learned and achieved along this journey. Building the organization to her high standards created a robust structure that allows us to continue our work and meet our obligations and commitments to grantors, communities, sponsors, and staff in a well-organized manner, even during the transition period, as we circulate this job description to friends like you and seek to fill the Executive Director position by September 1.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to improve the livability of communities inside the URDL here in Baltimore County.
Sincerely,
Klaus Philipsen, FAIA, President
NeighborSpace Board of Directors
