In the second installment of our Face Behind the Space series, we would like to introduce a longtime stewardship partner of NeighborSpace of Baltimore County: Dave Fuller, a pillar of the Tollgate-Wyndham community for the past 60 years and a current member of the Tollgate-Wyndham Forest Preserve Board. Dave started working in the community when he was a teenager as an advocate for speed bumps and safety within the Tollgate-Wyndham Community, before being invited to join a community board. Dave and three previous board members started the Tollgate-Wyndham Forest Preserve with a $25,000 donation from Emmer Construction Company.
Dave’s dedication and commitment to the Tollgate-Wyndham Forest Preserve has spanned decades. Since 2008, Dave, with a collection of family, friends, neighbors, and locals, has completed 30 projects in the Tollgate-Wyndham Forest Preserve. Throughout the years, Dave has implemented an animal print footpath, a dedication garden, and signage for the different paths throughout the woods, as well as building benches and seating and a bulletin board that provides information on native plant species. Dave has worked with multiple organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, to build a bridge that crosses over a small stream and provides public access from one side of the forest to the other. He also donated to those Boy Scouts, which helped the group travel to Hawaii.
Through mulching, trash removal, and maintenance projects, Dave has maintained this beautiful, wooded conservation site. He would like to see the community become involved in trash removal, redoing old signage, and utilizing the 3-4 acres of untouched forest for community projects. NeighborSpace would like to recognize and thank him for his outstanding effort, dedication, and hard work.
