Historical Research on Life Along Bear Creek Continues

NeighborSpace continues to study the history of Bear Creek and Patapsco Neck from 1650 to today, with the goal of interpreting the future Bear Creek Heritage Trail in Dundalk. This research is funded by a Battlefield Protection grant from the National Park Service, awarded to NeighborSpace in September 2021, and is led by Stevenson University professor Glenn Johnston. Together with his students and a team of historical consultants and community historians, Professor Johnston has uncovered a wealth of information on life in the Bear Creek area around 1800.

We are excited to share the second edition of The Preceptor, the newsletter covering this historical research project, which has the stated goal to “inform and educate the current residents of Patapsco Neck and the old “Lower Patapsco Hundred” about their history”. This edition features articles on the Houck family, the history of Swan Harbour, and a variety of other interesting stories, and can be found here: https://mailchi.mp/22441222759d/the-preceptor-bear-creek-summer-edition?e=68e0e6fd28
