In Memoriam: Patricia Paul

NeighborSpace was saddened to hear that Bear Creek Steering Committee member Patricia Paul passed away unexpectedly on August 24th. Patricia was a lifelong community advocate and staunch supporter of the Bear Creek Heritage Trail project. She pioneered the idea of a trail that would highlight local history and connect community members to the waterfront, and made sure to keep the project moving through multiple partnerships.

Over the past two years, Patricia worked with Dr. Glenn Johnston and other community and professional historians to detail the history of Bear Creek’s role in the defense of Baltimore in the War of 1812 and to highlight local stories. She continued to be an active member of the Steering Committee, weighing in on trail design and working tirelessly to keep community members informed.

Just a few weeks ago, Patricia spoke with NeighborSpace about future phases of the trail and expressed her contentment in knowing that her community’s history is at last compiled and preserved for future generations. We were fortunate to capture Patricia’s voice in this video
